Obituary for Edward M. Soltis
Edward M. Soltis, 79, of 1 Grandview Dr. Lot 20, Hadley, (Perry Twp.), PA, formerly of Greenville, passed away at 1:02 am on Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at UPMC Hamot in Erie, PA.
Edward was born in Nelson Ledges, Ohio on August 22, 1937 to the late, Nicholas and Sophie Soltis.
He was a member of St. Michael Roman Catholic Church, Greenville, PA, where he volunteered.
Edward served in the Ohio National Guard from 1955 to 1967.
He was a 1958 graduate of James A. Garfield High School in Garrettsville, Ohio. Edward retired as a machinist in Target Stamping from Tool Die Makers in Kinsman, Ohio. He volunteered locally for Boy Scouts of America and Relay for Life.
Edward was a farmer who enjoyed working with heavy equipment and tractors, and occasionally attended antique tractor pulls. He was also very passionate about politics. Edward loved his family and friends.
Edward is survived by his wife at home, Lee Ann (Gedgaudas) Soltis. They were married on August 8, 1961. Also surviving are: one daughter, Tammey Miller, and her husband, Keith D., of Clarks Mills; three sons, Brian M. Soltis, and his wife, Michelle, of Volant, Rev. Michael T. Soltis, and his wife, Brenda, of North Baltimore, Ohio, and David A. Soltis, and his girlfriend, Megan Stockner, of Hadley; five grandchildren, Joshua Soltis, and his wife, Katie, of North Baltimore, Ohio, Andrea Holben, and her husband, Brian, of Charlottesville, Virginia, Kraig Miller of Olean, New York, Nathan Soltis of North Baltimore, Ohio, and Macy Soltis of Volant; three step-grandchildren, Timothy J. Chambers of Monaca, Colby Chambers of Volant, and Kyndra Chambers of Volant; three great great-grandchildren, Saumi Gatto Christofferson, Jaxon Soltis, and Gavin Soltis; one brother, Jim Soltis of Nelson Ledges, Ohio; and one sister, Jean Sprinkle, and her husband, Harold, of Bristolville, Ohio.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: son, Scott Alan Soltis, two brothers, Steve and Carly Soltis, and two sisters, Sophie Peterson and Mamie Gough.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 2, 2017, from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm at Osborne-Williams Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 73-75 Columbia Ave., Greenville.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Michael Roman Catholic Church, 85 North High St., Greenville, at 10:30 am on Friday, March 3, 2017, with Fr. David Foradori, Pastor, as Celebrant.
Burial with committal prayers will follow the service at St. Michael Cemetery, Greenville, PA, with full military honors presented by the Greenville VFW.
