Obituary for James D. Matters

James D. Matters, 64, of Clarksville St., Greenville, PA, formerly of Tower Rd, Jamestown, passed away at 9:55 am on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at his residence.

He was born in Greenville, PA on July 18, 1954 to the late, James W. and Doris (Brenizer) Matters.

James attended Jamestown Schools. He worked for Steel Car/Trinity for 30 years as a welder and was the vice president of the U.A.W. local 1653. After Trinity closed, James attended and graduated from New Castle School of Trades. He was self-employed as an auto mechanic.

James loved working on cars, and spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife at home, Debra S. (Gallagher) Matters. They were married on September 7, 1974. Also surviving are: two daughters, Melissa M. Richards, and her husband, James, of Greenville, and Theresa A. Jablonski, and her husband, Alan, of Hadley; two sons, Charles D. Matters, and his wife, Holly, of Westford, and Steven Ramp of Greenville; nine grandchildren, Charise R. Murphy, Scott A. Murphy, Cassandra S. Buckley, Kayla Jablonski, Alan Jablonski, Chase Matters, Kelci Matters, Kiley Matters, and Ian Matters; nine great-grandchildren, Zachary, Pagan, Malaki, Brian, Preston, Nick, Isabella, Mason, & Gracelynn; two brothers, Richard Matters, and his wife, Margaret, of Clarks Mills, and Jeffrey L. Matters of Jamestown; three sisters, Kathy Warrington, and her husband, Michael, of Cochranton, Patricia Patton of Greenville, and Andrea Matters of Jamestown; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his brother, Michael C. Matters.

A memorial service will be held at Osborne-Williams Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 73-75 Columbia Ave., Greenville, at 11:00 am on Tuesday, December 18, 2018, with Claire Meglas, Kindred Hospice Care Chaplain, officiating.
