Life Legacy


Doris A. McCann, 75, of White Cliff Nursing Home, Hempfield Twp., formerly of 171 Vernon Rd., West Salem Twp., passed away on Thursday, January 26, 2012 at 8:29 am at the nursing home.

She was born in Pymatuning Twp., PA on April 22, 1936 to the late Prescott L. and Lillie May (Bortz) Diefenderfer.

She was a graduate of Hickory High School and a homemaker.

Doris enjoyed gardening and flowers, and was an avid NASCAR fan, especially watching and meeting Dave Blaney. She loved watching and feeding animals in her yard, and enjoyed the companionship of her dogs. She was a happy and generous person who was full of life and loved her family.

She was married to Regis F. McCann on September 25, 1954 and he preceded her in death on November 30, 1995.

Doris is survived by: two sons, Bruce McCann and his wife, Darlene, of Greenville, PA, and Brian McCann and his wife, Ali, of Curwensville, PA; a daughter, Sheryl Cooley and her husband, Spencer, of Atlantic, PA; a brother, Ernie Diefenderfer; a sister, Frieda Miller of Greenville, PA; 10 grandchildren, Alex McCann of Greenville, PA, Chris McCann of Greenville, PA, Brandon McCann of Meadville, PA, Jessica McCann of Greenville, PA, Amanda Creasy and her husband, Scott, of Nescopeck, PA, Melissa Baggam and her husband, Sunny of Erie, PA, Mike Cooley of Hagerstown, MD, Olivia Charles of Curwensville, PA, Logen Charles of Curwensville, PA, and Chris Charles of Curwensville, PA; and a great grandson, Karan Baggam of Erie, PA.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by: a brother, Ralph Diefenderfer, and a sister, Virginia Cavender.
